Before social media allowed athletes to receive incredible amounts of coverage and exposure depending on their sport, athletes would participate in two to three sports per year.

Whether the alternative sports were competitive or recreational, athletes would rest for a few weeks, and begin training through the utilization of an alternative activity.

In this day, youth athletes encounter a tremendous amount of pressure to specialize in a single sport at a young age. This may even occur before they have the opportunity to try out other sports and activities.

While specialization can be crucial for developing skills and enhancing performance, problems do come with this form of commitment.

Balancing strength and conditioning helps athletes become stronger, faster, and more durable because of the balance within their workouts.
